Captain Jack's - Consolation Bay - Coxen Hole

Image
We've driven past this restaurant plenty of times.  We heard it just reopened from Covid and tried it with my cousins from Canada.  It's right on the water next to the cruise terminals, so when the cruise ships are in - they are your view.  Today was Monday and no cruise ships. We tried the Conch Fritters as appetizers, they were very tasty and came 5 on a plate with tartar sauce. Greg and I split the Cheeseburger with homemade french fries and my cousins split a fish burger which they said was delicious.

Snakes in Roatan!

Image
I had heard there were snakes on the island.  Hawaii has none!   We found this little guy winding it's way across our parking lot at the condo.  We had a bunch of groceries so I didn't think of taking a picture of it until a few minutes later and by then it had moved it's self under some bushes.  It is only about a foot in length.   I can honestly say that I have not seen a snake in the wild in over 30 years.

Woohoo!!! Wendy's is now open in MegaPlaza

Image
YEAH!!!  There were rumors that there was going to be a Wendy's opening up again in the mall and it finally happened.  Before we moved here, quite a few years ago there was a Wendy's in the plaza, then they closed down and Snappers opened up in the same location, then they moved down to the water and we saw signs this summer of Wendy's opening up.  Today we drove through the parking lot and saw the signs and sure enough people were walking out the door with food in their hands.  We stopped for lunch and it's pretty much the same menu as the USA, except their wraps are called burritos. lol The Double Cheeseburger meal was 177L or $7.10 and I had the grilled chicken burger meal for 185L or 17.50.  They were both great meals - I'm prejudice since Wendy's is my top favorite fast food restaurant. So HAPPY!!!!!

Lawson Rock Deli and Market - Sandy Bay

Image
Sandy Bay takes up a lot of area on the west side of the island.  Part of that includes the exclusive subdivision of Lawson Rock.  They have a condo building with a deli/market inside.  We've driven past hundreds of times and finally decided to check it out.  It's a cute little deli that serves breakfast and lunch.  They also sell meats and cheeses like an old fashioned deli, plus gifts! We ordered the lunch specials.  One Lasagna plate with salad and the other was their chicken & rice dish that was served with a side of coleslaw (odd combination).  Both were delicious!  The lasagna was $10 and the chicken/rice was $7.20.   We'll be back!

The Sunken Fish - Sandy Bay

Image
Beautiful location.  It's in the same building as Tranquil Seas Resort.  It's not on the water directly, but up on a bluff overlooking the ocean.  Great views!  I had been there once before and this was my second time there.  Most of the food is a pricey, but the fish and chips are more reasonable and delicious so I ordered them again, Greg ordered the shrimp alfredo.  His pasta was delicious.  My fish and fries (battered) were look warm.  I think the larger group - the less the chef can multi-task and get all the food hot at the same time.  When I was there the first time, I thought the waitress had said that BBQ Rib night was Friday - so we were there on Friday - turns out the BBQ Rib night is on Saturday, so we will be back eventually. lol

Gi's Fries in West Bay

Image
Just behind Bananarama is a cute little plaza with a bunch of small shops and restaurants, I've mentioned two here on the blog already - the Gelato place and Ska's. Now we have tried Gi's or Gi's Fries.  They have great prices and the deep fried fish is delish!  The batter is a combo of breaded and battered.  The french fries are good too.  The mozzarella sticks are average - like the frozen ones you can buy from Costco - if they had a Costco here.  They also have hamburgers, when we first looked at the menu the hamburgers with fries were $12 and I thought that was a little high for Roatan, after we ordered I looked again and the burgers are 1/2 lb!!!!  That's a lot of burger!

Booty Bar - West End

Image
If you love wings - this is the place to go.  I'm not a big fan of wings, but Greg likes them so we decided to try it out.  The Booty Bar is out over the water so you have a great view of the ocean.  They offer 3 or 4 sizes of wing plates starting with 10 and on up to 40.  We ordered the 20 piece wing plate and a Carne Asada plate with two sides.   Lots of choices at this place.  With the wings you have 5 different choices, the only one we didn't try is the regular BBQ flavor.  Below on the picture from top to bottom it is:  Teriyaki Sauce, Buffalo, Honey BBQ and honey mustard.  The plate also came with some veggie sticks and french fries, so we should have just ordered the plate and called it good for food.  After we ate all the wings, then our main dish came out.  It was good too, but we were almost full from the wings. lol  The Carne Asada (steak) came with a side of chimichurri sauce, the sides were good, potato ...
