Welcome:

Today is March 25th.  This is my first Blog ever.  My name is Debbie and my husband and I are moving to Roatan and I wanted to document my move, and once I arrive in Roatan, what there is to see and do, and give you an idea about all the fun restaurants on the island.

We will be arriving on Roatan on April 18th.  I'm so excited.  We are only shipping a few boxes (hopefully) through UPS and taking 2 suitcases, 2 totes, 2 carry-ons, my purse and laptop.

Where and what is Roatan you ask?  Roatan, Honduras is an island off the coast of Honduras in the Caribbean Ocean.  It's 40 miles from the mainland, the island itself is 48 miles long and 5 miles wide.  The main language of Honduras is Spanish, but most everyone speaks English on Roatan.  It's main industry is tourism.  It's one of the top dive sites in the world.  Unfortunately when it comes to diving I'm a chicken, but I do love to snorkel and can't wait to check out all the reefs close to shore.

According to Wikipedia the population in 2020 was 110,000.  There are several towns around the island.  The airport is in Coxen Hole and the other bigger town is French Harbor where we will be living.

The popular tourist areas are West End and West Bay - obviously on the west side of the island.

Stay tuned for more posts in April.
