Mayday Steak and Grill - Mega Plaza

 Should have known by the name of the place not to stop there - Mayday. lol  We wanted to stop at "The Breakfast House" but they were  closed, so we went to Mayday, they are both located in the large shopping center in French Harbor.  The place was busy, which we take as a good sign, placed our order at the counter and then Greg went to find a table outside and I stood around waiting, and waiting and waiting, then I went to sit down for awhile and another gal at our table that spoke English told me to tell the people at the counter that we are outside and they would deliver our food.  We waited and waited some more, finally a table opened up inside, so we went in there and waited, and waited some more.  Finally after 50 - yes FIFTY minutes, we finally got our food.  Greg ordered the Taco plate and tried the nacho plate.  Greg was braved and tried Chorizo sausage tacos, I went with Chicken nachos.  They grill the meat there in the kitchen which you can see from the counter.  He got 4 tacos, each contained one sausage, fried onions and a little cilantro sauce.  That's it.  My nachos had tortilla chips with grilled chicken that had been on the grill a little too long, one side they slopped some refried beans on, the other side some pico de gallo, then I saw them put cheese sauce out of plastic squeeze bag (typical there) all over the top - it wasn't even warmed up.  Thankfully the 2 plates and 2 sodas didn't come to $20 or I would have been really disappointed.  With all the choices here on Roatan, you know I won't be back.

 Sandy Bay takes up a lot of area on the west side of the island.  Part of that includes the exclusive subdivision of Lawson Rock.  They have a condo building with a deli/market inside.  We've driven past hundreds of times and finally decided to check it out.  It's a cute little deli that serves breakfast and lunch.  They also sell meats and cheeses like an old fashioned deli, plus gifts! We ordered the lunch specials.  One Lasagna plate with salad and the other was their chicken & rice dish that was served with a side of coleslaw (odd combination).  Both were delicious!  The lasagna was $10 and the chicken/rice was $7.20.   We'll be back!

Eldon's Grocery Store

 Having just moved into the condo and there is not a single piece of food in the condo we definitely needed to go to the grocery store.  According to what I've read there are two Eldon Grocery stores and another grocery store on the island.  Thankfully one of the Eldon's is only 2 blocks from our condo.  We walked there and took a taxi back with all our food.   We spent a total of $175.  The prices aren't too bad if you stick to their generic brands.  The most expensive thing we bought was a 12 pack of Diet Coke for a little over $6.  Included in the $175 was milk, cheese, bacon, sausages, bagels, cream cheese, flour, sugar, brown sugar, salt and pepper, ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce, snacks, some chips, bread, peanutbutter, jam, and a few other things.  It's interesting and I should have taken some pictures - but their flour and sugars come in clear bags.  The bread is square! Roberto's Burritos in West End

 We've driven past this cute little building several times, but finally made  a point to stop in and check it out.  The building used to be a Meat market but now they serve tacos and burritos.  I had heard that they had large portions, so we split something, decided to order the biggest burrito on the menu. lol  It's the Carnita,( $12)  it had steak, chicken, rice and beans and a few other ingredients.  We also ordered a side of chips and salsa ($2).  The brought out the chips and salsa first.  The salsa was great, just a little spicy, but not enough that I couldn't eat it (I'm a wimp with spicy foods. )  Then before we had made a dent in the chips, here come our burrito.  I took pictures of both, but had to add my Pepsi in for a size reference.  The burrito was huge, bigger than my forearm.  Glad we split it.  Everything was delicious, but next time I might just stop in for their dessert.  It's chips with sugar ...
